Left side?: So, when you lie on your left side your heart is much closer to the inside of your chest wall and pretty near the stomach. You might be much more aware of it beating in this position. You don't say how old you are. If you have high blood pressure or are over 60, and this is definitely new, you should just have your abdomen checked to be sure it is not an enlargement of heart or aorta.

Not unusual: Most probably, u r a thin person, & the "side" that u r laying on is the left side. The heart & the stomach lay side-by-side (separated only by the diaphragm), & especially when u lean to the left, the pulsations of the heart can b transmitted to the abdomen.
