Good Question: I haven't a sure answer but it's not uncommon. Possibly the consequences of the obsession/addiction are starting to cause even more anxiety. A lot of obsessions/addictions are driven by underlying and often unrecognized anxiety. When the obsession creates more anxiety, subconsciously one might look for another obsession to allay the persistent underlying anxiety. Please ask for further help
