A member asked:

I have chf and sometimes my breathing is good and some days not so good. alot of times it is worse after eating. is there a connection with this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

May be: CHF is aggravated by fluid retention from salty substances. Also after meals the heart works harder during the digestive process and you must avoid exertion or lying too flat until digestion is completed an hour or two after the meal. If significant weight is gained,it may be necessary to take extra diuretics in order to ward off chf symptoms. Your physician is best qualified to advise you.
