Why do i keep hearing a thumping sound in my ears?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

FromThJawbonesOfFish: I'll bet you are having a nervous twitch of the stapedius muscle that regulates tension on the ear drum. It's the smallest muscle in the body attached to the smallest bone. The ear bones ('ossicles') are, evolutionarily related to the jaw bones of fishes! So,like a nervous twitch of the lip or eyelid, etc.for some reason you get it in the ear. The 'thump' is the sound of the ear drum quickly tensing
