How does a deep or posterior cervical swollen lymph node look like ???

Small lump: Most posterior cervical nodes that are palpable represent metastasis to the posterior triangle of the neck, posterior to sternomastoid muscle. One can see a small nodular swelling if not palpate the structure. It usually is in close proximity to the 11th cervical n. , the levator scapulae n. which must be preserved if one suspects a disease process where the node needs bx.
