No: oral cancer screening is done with dye, fluorescent light, micros copal study of cells or brush biopsy. Digital X-rays are two dimensional diagnostic images for hard tissues.

Depends on type: Hard tissue (bone) cancers can't be seen visually, but may appear on an x-ray or cat scan. Soft tissue cancers will not be seen on x-ray, but can be visualized directly or with one of the currently available cancer detecting adjunct instruments. If you have concerns, please don't wait, call your Dentist for an examination.

Possibly: Although the cancer may begin in the soft tissue, it is possible for it to invade the bone. Thereby causing it to be visible in an digital xray. It will, however, need further diagnostic imaging and most likely a tissue biopsy for a definitive diagnosis. Don't think the worst. Be positive and get it diagnosed. Good luck. I hope it all works out for you.

3 ways to do it: The best method to make a diagnosis of mouth cancer is to look inside your mouth(or have your denstist or any doctor do it). Any ulcer or growth in the mouth that is increasing in size for more than one month can be cancerous. One can easily feel cancer with your fingers as a hard growth. Lastly we use X-rays(MRI or CT scan) to confirm and assess more advanced mouth/throat cancers

Examination: The best diagnosis involves a complete examination by dentist. Xrays are part of the exam. If cancer is suspected, you will be referred to an oral surgeon for biopsy.
