Keep an eye for chan: I think you are ok as assured by your dentist. Keep an eye on this area. Mostly likely it will go away in a few weeks. Cancer is not likely, unless you see a progressive growth or a swelling or tumor in that area.

Ask for document: Please return to your dentist and ask for a written advice for the next step. It may be "return in xx days for follow up" or "referring to dr. Xx for further evaluation", or "normal variation: re-examine at next hygiene care", etc. Your dentist or hygienist must examine your oral tissue for cancer at every routine exam appointment. Oral cancer is increasing in 19-25yo, with ~50% death rate.
