A member asked:

Does having an irregular period mean that you are infertile or that it will be harder to get pregnant? can you still ovulate?

It depends: It depends how irregular you are. Some women with very irregular periods are not ovulating and will have difficulty getting pregnant. Some variability in cycle length is normal. You can do a home ovulation prediction test to determine if you are ovulating or not. Or you can see your doc. Best wishes!

Right track: Having irregular periods can mean that ovulations occur irregularly and thus the woman has a harder time to become pregnant. It is a good idea, though, to have a health check and see if diseases of other organ systems interfere with regular ovulation, e.g,, the thyroid gland or the pituitary gland.
