Was diagnosed with shingles on my face yesterday, noticed new blisters on day 7, is this common? they seem less severe. best method to prevent scars?

Common: Best way to prevent scar is prompt institution of therapy within 3 days, preferably on first day. This is 7 days of valacyclovir 1 gram 3x a day or acyclovir 800mg 5x a day. Gently wash with tap water at least twice a day.

SHINGLES ON FACE: IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR NEW BLISTERS TO OCCUR AFTER A WEEK. AS LONG AS YOU CONTINUE TO TAKE YOUR ANTIVIRAL MEDICATION, NEW LESIONS SHOULD BEGIN TO DISAPPEAR SHORTLY.

Very common: The whole length of this outbreak may take 3-4 weeks. Try not to scratch and burst blisters in order to avoid the occurrence of scars.
