Vomiting: the food that you ate did not agree with you which is the cause of your vomiting, please see your pcp and get a prescription for Zofran (ondansetron) that will reduce or stop you from throwing up then you will be able to keep fluids down

You may not have: Enough liquid to vomit it up, or need further stimulation to reverse the peristalsis. If you know for sure you've had food poisoning, usually it produces vomiting by itself. Syrup of ipecac used to help in this, and now it's not available for sale. So, bottom line is you have to call the poison control center, and get specific instructions what to do, and they will want to know what you swallowed.

Vomiting: Food poisoning could result in vomiting for a short period of time, but would not cause prolonged vomiting. Prolonged or constant vomiting s something that needs to be evaluated by your primary care doctor.

Should not last week: Food poisoning should NOT last weeks! If you are still having symptoms, there is probably something else going on and you should see your doctor or a gastroenterologist, have your stool checked (especially for C.diff), and possibly get scoped (endoscopy and colonoscopy).

Food poisoning: is very common but Most cases are mild, self-limiting, and improve with supportive nonspecific symptomatic treatments- Aggressive Re-HYDRATION. If you are still having symptoms 2 weeks out you may need appropriate antibiotics..
