Back Pain: Honestly, once you develop back pain, it almost never goes away for ever. Expect it to come and go. An acute flare should get better within 6 weeks. Yes, it sounds like a lot. The person should stay active during that time and be as active as allowable by pain. Buy the person the book....Healing Back Pain by Dr. Sarno. Its a start
