Pinched nerve neck: The symptoms you describe are consistent with a pinched or irriated nerve in the neck region (such as the greater occipital nerve, lesser occiptial nerve, greater auricular nerve, C1, C2 etc.). I am not sure where on the scalp the pain is, but each nerve has a specific distribution on the scalp.
