A member asked:

Why does it take 2 weeks to decrease and wean off of my 500 mgs of depakote?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Slow reduction: Medicines like this are reduced slowly to prevent the chances of withdrawal symptoms. One of these can be seizures. When a medicine like depakote is stopped too quickly, a seizure may occur. Two weeks will be over before you know it!
