AllThngsInModeration: Advil will have a long lasting side effect if you develop a side effect & keep taking it (duh!)--if you stop taking it, the side effect should go away,unless you took a toxic dose or a lot of it for a long time then blew-out your kidneys or stomach--then you'd be in for some long-term trouble.Taken in proper dose & interval for relatively short periods of time, you should do OK.If not,try Tylenol (acetaminophen).
