Yes and No: When asthma is controlled, there should be normal lung function tests. Even individuals with mild asthma can have severe attacks (with decreased lung function) and even die from asthma. During an asthma attack, fever is not a typical finding unless an infection such as a virus is the trigger. Other causes of asthma attacks are allergies, exercise, smoke/irritants, and sinus infections.
