Sucking blister: Babies can get a little "sucking blister" from nursing. Most commonly it occurs on the top lip, but can also be the bottom lip. Just before she latches, with her mouth wide, take your index finger and roll the top lip outward, to get the lip tissue out of the way of the breast. Be sure and mention to your pediatrician at the one month visit so she can rule out heart disease, also.

Breast feeding: please have your pediatrician rule out congenital heart disease as the cause of the discoloration, as this could be a sign reffered to as cyanosis.
