You need antibiotics: There are many options to treat UTI. Even when the bacteria causing it are resistant to some antibiotics, usually there are a few options, and not all of them are expensive. Discuss this with the doctor treating you to find an acceptable option. Some UTIs will clear up on their own, but "severe" suggests kidney involvement, fever, etc. Don't take the chance; this could be very dangerous.
