Eating Disorder Tx: It depends on severity of the disorder, the motivation for recovery and available resources (education about eating disorders, social supports, etc.). Once an eating disorder is severe enough to meet diagnostic criteria, the average time from onset to remission is 7 years. Since there are highly effective therapies (cbt, act, ipt) available to speed this process, one should not delay treatment!
