Possible HPV infectn: Infection from HPV is the primary reasons women would experience an abnormal Pap smear. Pelvic pain can be due to many things, such as infection (gonorrhea, chlamydia), HPV infection, Pregnancy, PMS. I would image it was your primary care physician who told you about the abnormal pap. He or she would be the best guide in regards what your next step would be for treatment of the abnormal pap.
