Very likely you are: Experiencing gastroesophageal reflux disease. This problem will definitely cause the symptoms you describe. You should avoid alcohol, coffee and tea (including decaf), and highly seasoned foods. Lists of foods to avoid are available in the internet. Then you should be taking one off the many medicines that decrease stomach acid, ranitidine (Zantac), famotidine (Pepcid), pantoprazole (Protonix)
