Allergic reaction: Amniotic fluid embolism is a rare condition.It's due to amnionic fluid entering the maternal circulation.This results in a combination of cardiogenic shock, respiratory failure and a coagulation disorder causing blood clots or bleeding.Although most cases occur during or shortly after delivery,on rare occasions it has occurred 48 hours after delivery due to a delayed allergic reaction to the fluid
