Options: The next step is to schedule a visit to discuss the treatment options. The term chocolate cyst usually refers to endometriosis. One can suspect endometriosis by the appearance on ultrasound but can not confirm it until surgery is done.

Surgical Removal: A chocolate cyst is also called an endometrioma. Endometriosis on the ovary can cause bleeding in the ovary that collects over time and forms a blood filled cyst. It can be quite painful. The blood is old and looks like liquid chocolate. It is usually removed by doing laparoscopic surgery. Best wishes!
