Evaluation: You should be evaluated. Most likely there is a simple cause (thyroid, prolactin, male hormones, etc). However periods that come closer together are more worrisome since there is a a slightly higher chance that the underlying causing is premature aging of the ovaries. So at the very least an estrogen, FSH and AMH hormones levels, in addition to TSH and Prolactin, would be a good place to start,.
