Cause of red spots: it is most important to know whether these spots blanche (disappear) after you push on them, which may be viral or allergic. If they do not blanche, capillary bleeding has occurred, either from a tourniquet effect of very tight socks or hose, or from capillary fragility, and you must see your PCP to find the cause, such as a rare condition called Henoch-Schoenlein purpura.
