High fiber diet: Increase the amount of Metamucil and eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grain cereals (the healthiest are oat meal, shredded wheat and grape nuts). Keep the rectal area lubricated with vaseline. Have the prolapse evaluated by a proctologist. Make sure you've had a colonoscopy. Keep well hydrated (drink plenty of water).

Stay regular: Keep taking the Metamucil, and more water. Don't take Metamucil only when you're constipated--take it every day. Also, take magnesium to "bowel tolerance." You can't OD on magnesium, because it will give you diarrhea. Find dose that works for you--every day. Add bowel stimulants like prunes. You may be hypothyroid, a common cause of constipation. Stay regular to avoid problems w/ prolapse.
