My confidence and trust in my pcp has been destroyed by his failure . is it worth attempting to rebuild trust? do docs care about their patients?

Relationships: I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Communication is paramount in any physician-patient relationship. The large majority of doctors do care very much! :) I always tell my patients to find a doctor they trust and stick with him or her. It is never unreasonable to get a second opinion from another doctor if you feel necessary.

PCP TRUST: A very important issue. If the PCP has made a severe error in judgement with significant negative health outcome resulting, change is OK. BUT ~ there are often misconceptions by patients as to what a positive outcome is. If even at best, a better outcome is not possible, then you cannot blame the Dr, work rather on personal closure. Drs do what is right but occasionally not what one wants! thx

Doctor/patient: yes doctors care about their patient. but sometimes there is lack of training about communication with the patient . and I think this issue has gained a lot of momentum recently. and many of lectures now teaching the physician how to communicate better with their patient. talk to your doctor. tell him what bothers you he will listen ..and trust me he will be happy that you talked to him
