Input=output: How much you urinate is directly related to how much and when you drink liquids. Stop drinking all fluid at 6 pm and most likely you won't need to get up at night to urinate. Later in life (>60)your kidney loses the ability to concentrate urine so one has higher volume dilute urine. Urethral irritation (incl sex), diabetes, some meds will give you the urge to go more often.
