Yes, sort of: Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease, as are hashimotos thyroiditis and graves disease. People with 1 autoimmune disease have a higher likelihood of having another. But, both diabetes and thyroid disease are common, so they can occur by chance, too. Type 2 diabetes is not autoimmune, but is very common also.
