Hepatitis C: Hepatitis is spread through contact with hepatitis C infected blood. Before we had universal precautions for blood and tested for HIV in blood that was transfused the majority of cases were from blood transfusions. IV drug use is a risk, sharing of needles and even cocaine straws. Sharing of razors, scissors, toothbrushes. Anything that can possibly share blood is a risk, but not other fluids.

Yes, Hepatitis C: is far more transmissible than most other blood borne viruses. Any source of blood or blood products seems to be capable of carrying the virus, even if the source is indirect - like a used razor. Tattoos, body piercing, and some acupuncture practices have contributed significantly to the spread of hepatitis C. Longer contact definitely increases the risk.
