Typically not cyclic: Endometriomas are areas of endometriosis found on the surface of the ovary. They are slow growing and result from entrapped blood within the cyst. The chocolate color is from the breakdown of blood products. The amount of blood they produce with each menses is minimal and thus they are slow growing. If they disappear or shrink it is most likely due to cyst rupture.
