A member asked:

Would cancer metastasis to neck lymph nodes likely show up in bloodwork such as a cbc?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

CBC and cancer: Very few cancers show up in a CBC. A few such as leukemia commonly are seen in a CBC. A metastatic lesion to a neck lymph node would normally not be detected with this blood test. An FNA (fine needle aspiration) can be performed where a tiny needle is used to extract cells for a pathologists review. Speak with your doctor.
