Why do some people have normal hemoglobin levels but iron deficiency?

Low levels precede : Hemoglobin level does not decrease unless all the iron stores are used up. So one follows the other but slowly. Therefore, it is not uncommon to have good hemoglobin level in th eearly phases of iron deficiency.
