A member asked:

Can febrile seizures and the early closure of the soft spot affect your intellectual capacity?

Not a problem: Febrile seizures seem to be age related, often do not need to be treated, and typically do not cause future seizures or mental disabilities. The closure of the "soft spot" is not unusual, and should not create any problems whatsoever.

No: By definition, febrile seizures do not effect intellect or development. However, a patient with an underlying impairment can also have incidental unrelated febrile seizures. The "soft spot" can be tiny at birth or the width of a grapefruit and close to touch at any point. This action is not correlated with intellectual capacity.
