Itch: first you need to figure out the cause of the itch. it it urticaria, ezema, liver related issues. have your doctor try to figure out if its a systemic inflammatory response occurring from some source.

Why did u stop?: u could try the "non-sedating" antihistamines like Allegra, (fexofenadine)Zyrtec,Xyzal, or see an Allergist/Immunologist.They have other meds in the fight against chronic pruritis.Good luck
