With the eyes closed: Sleep patterns may vary from individual to individual, and recommendations for positions may depend upon any physical conditions or ailments. People who have TMJ disorders should avoid sleeping on their stomach. People who snore should avoid sleeping on their back. People with reflux disease may have to sleep with their head elevated.
