Will sertraline make me put on weight?

Not common but...: Sertraline (Zoloft) is not commonly associated with weight gain though individual variability is significant in response to SSRI side effects. For some, Sertraline (and/or other SSRIs) may make it more difficult to lose weight which may be confused with medication related weight gain.

Zoloft (sertraline): Likely to occur after 6 months or more of using the medication, however, compared with other SSRIs it is the least likely.

Not necessarily...: It's unusual to gain weight when first starting on sertraline. Some people do find that after they have been on it for some time, typically a year or more, that they gain weight because they are eating more. The med won't simply put weight on you, it has to do with what and how you eat, your activity level and all the usual things that have to do with weight.
