The risk is gastrit: Meloxicam by itself can cause gastritis and ulcers. The combination with alcohol can increase this risk.

Not really: Drinking alcohol while taking meloxicam can increase your chances of getting a bleeding stomach ulcer. So it would be best to avoid alcohol to reduce the chances of this complication.
