Bruises: If it just the soft tissue or even the rib bruises, time is the healer icing and anti inflammatory medicine might help with pain, If it is rib fracture without displacement the treatment is going to be the same, if there is displacement compromising the lungs needs intervention. If it is so she would have symptoms of severe pain and shortness of breath. Judge by the severity of the symptoms.

Bruising : Make sure the patches are not become swollen and larger. If so she may have a hematoma that needs to be monitored in the hospital, and she may likely need to be transfused blood products. If she has bone pain take her to the ER to assess for any hip or long bone fracture, very common in the elderly.
