Anarobes can B nasty: Anaerobic infections (infections with bacteria that live with little or no oxygen) tend to be under the skin or deep in the body. They may manifest as abscesses, gangrene, or other deep tissue infection. Some spread very rapidly. Treatment usually requires antibiotics and/or drainage/surgery. If you suspect an anaerobic infection, get it checked out straight away.
