Teenagers: often have joint symptoms related to their rapid rate of growth and relative laxity of their ligaments. If there is no pain, discomfort or limitation of movement, then the popping and cracking is probably nothing to be concerned about. Obesity, even in teenage years can cause damage to joints of the lower extremities, so if obese medical consultation is warranted.
