Maybe oral herpes: Cold sore and oral herpes are the same thing. That doesn't necessarily mean the sore is herpes, but it certainly could be. Most people with oral herpes have had it for years, often without symptoms, and outbreaks can be triggered by other infections (hence the names cold sore and fever blister). I suggest immediate exam and testing of the sore for HSV1. If positive, you'll know for sure.
