Yes: Rapaflo (silodosin) is more selective to the alpha 1a receptors in the prostate and base of the bladder than tamsulosin. Both of these drugs are used to lessen baseline muscle tone within the prostate and bladder base to allow for a reduction in obstructive symptoms. It is safe to stop the tamsulosin and then take the Rapaflo (silodosin) to see if it helps to relieve symptoms more effectively.
