A member asked:

Can you be a carrier and give someone a bacterial infection to which you yourself are immune?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Absolutely: There are many examples of infections that people can be carriers for, but still be very contagious to others. Many sexually transmitted diseases are passed this way via asymptomatic carriers. Herpes simplex virus (cold sore virus) is another example. People who are immunocompromised are at the greatest risk for these types of infections.
