Clinical correlation: Since the fine needle aspiration (small sample which may not be representative) is not conclusive, it is necessary that your physician weighs the options based on other clinical symptoms. However, with a large mass like this, it is probably wise to excise the mass with adequate margin an have it examined completely by the pathologist

Can thyroid nodules shrink over time? Nodule in 2016 was 3.49cm. As of today, nodule is 2.9cm. FNA says nodule on right lobe is heterogeneous, honeycomb pattern. Does this mean nodule is stable and shrinking on its own? Thank you, Elizabeth?
