Possibly due to wax: The crackling noise could be due to wax moving in your ear as you talk or chew. You could safely remove the wax by getting a rubber bulb that parents use to suck mucus from children's noses. Fill the rubber bulb with warm water and gently squirt the water into your ears. This can take a couple of tries but it can safely clean out your ears. Don't use a q-tip those can cause ear trauma.
