I take prilosec daily but have recently been feeling breakthrough heartburn, reflux in my throat and frequent heart palpitations. what else can i do?

Have your: Doctor consider other possibilities. Eosinophilic esophagitis and functional dyspepsia can cause the same symptoms. You may need an endoscopy to better evaluate.

This needs: an evaluation by a Gastroenterologist.. You may have GERD and structural abnormalities in your lower esophagus (gullet). Endoscopy and Acid studies will probably be indicated.
