Dehydration: is more likely the cause of thigh cramps in pregnancy. During pregnancy, a woman's body has to generate increased blood volume and aminotic fluid, and take in a great deal of fluid to remain well hydrated. Dehydration commonly causes muscle cramps and is leading cause of preterm contractions. Drink a large glass of water, and relax. Labor will begin soon enough.
