tip of my index finger has been dead for last few hours?

Did you touch: anything cold or hot? Has this happened before? Any other numbness or tingling elsewhere? What were you doing when this happened? Is there a color change to the finger tip? I would recommend seeing your doctor to check this out. They can better advise you, especially if you provide the answers to the questions I'm asking.
