It could be: viral pharyngitis or non strep bacterial phayngitis. Tonsillar abcess needs to be ruled out. Again you need rapid strep test to rule out strep throat. If it is strep or other bacterial infection you need to be put on antibiotic. If viral tnen you need symptomatic treatment.
