My sweetie had cabg 1 week ago, when he coughs he says he can both hear & feel his tissues and bones ripping/breaking. is this normal/okay?

Unusual symptom, but: coffing soon after chest surg hurts like h---. The pt may think he can hear and feel his bones shifting. But they probably are not. There is a condition postop called sternal instability. This is wen the breastbone that was cut for surgery is unstable. Ur surgeon can check this with a quick exam. When your sweetie wants to cough he should hug a pillow. This helps stabilize chest and reduce pain.
